Traffic, Subway Restrictions Coming on Mar 13
It looks like another round of crazy traffic is set to hit the capital – thanks to the Paralympics coming to a close on Sunday.
On Mar 13 there’s not only going to be traffic restrictions in the area surrounding the National Stadium – where the Paralympics closing ceremony is set to take place – but also adjustments to subway station openings and operations.
Here’s what you need to know:
Lines 5, 8, 10, and 15 will see operating adjustments throughout the day. All stations around the Olympics and Paralympics venues – like the Olympics Sports Center (奥体中心 àotǐ zhōngxīn), Forest Park South Gate (森林公园南门 sēnlín gōngyuán nánmén), and Olympic Park (奥林匹克公园 àolínpǐkè gōngyuán) – will be closed all day.
Others, like 惠新西街北口 Huìxīn Xījiē Běikǒu, 安贞门 Ānzhēnmén, 安立路 Ānlì Lù, and 北土城 Běitǔchéng will be closed from 6pm to midnight; and 安华桥 Ānhuáqiáo, 安德里北街 Āndélǐ Běijiē and 鼓楼大街 Gǔlóu Dàjiē will be closed from 6-11pm. You can also expect exits at a few of these stations to be closed, so plan accordingly.
Along with these subway adjustments, a whopping 57 bus routes will be redirected. As for those aforementioned traffic restrictions, here are some nifty map guides:
Roads in red on the map above will be closed from 6am to 11pm.
The areas of 大屯路 Dàtún Lù (above) marked in red will be restricted to public traffic from 6am onward, while the Datun Lu underground tunnel, in green, will be closed from 4pm.
Areas marked in red on the map above will be closed from 2pm until the end of the closing ceremony.
As always, things are subject to change, so keep an eye out and don't fret if you run into trouble.
